Summary

Proposes a simplified analytical model of airflow and heat transfer in a building solar chimney made of an absorber section, an upper stack extension and a lower stack serving the ventilated floors, solvable iteratively even in a spreadsheet. Predicted flow rates, air speeds and temperatures agree with published results and are turned into geometric design guidelines for apartment blocks in hot, humid climates.
