Summary
A solar chimney power plant fitted with reflectors that increase the solar radiation reaching the collector, analysed using energy and exergy balances and checked against a laboratory-scale prototype. Compared with a conventional plant, the reflectors raise efficiency by about 23% and more than double the power output because more air flows through the system. A case study for Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, gives monthly performance figures.
