Summary

Literature review of solar chimneys for passive building ventilation, examining how geometry, structural layout and climate shape airflow performance across vertical, inclined, conical and collector-integrated hybrid designs. Well-designed, properly oriented chimneys can cut energy use and improve indoor conditions, but evidence comes mostly from sunny tropical and subtropical regions, leaving temperate climates with weaker, variable sunlight largely unstudied.
