Summary

Thesis that uses steady-state, three-dimensional CFD in ANSYS Fluent to analyse a solar chimney coupled with an earth-to-air heat exchanger for passively cooling a typical building in Elazığ, Turkey. Pipe material, Reynolds number, solar radiation, absorber length, chimney tilt and duct sizes are varied; the hybrid system can provide daytime cooling and hours of summer thermal comfort without electricity.
