Summary

A passive system pairing an evaporative cooler with a solar chimney is modelled to cool the air in front of a window, lowering glass temperature and solar heat gain without extra energy use. Coupled models of the cooler, glazing, chimney and room show window temperatures falling by about 8–12% at 30 °C outdoors, especially with small chimneys.
