Summary

Numerical simulations of a sloped rooftop solar chimney combined with a PV panel and phase change material show that RT-50 performs best of the PCMs tested. In a comparison with simpler set-ups for buildings in Shanghai, the full combination produces the most electricity and suits homes best. For offices in a subtropical climate, a chimney with PV but no PCM is the better choice.
