Summary
Data centres could be cooled with outside air drawn through by a solar chimney. A theoretical model estimates indoor temperatures, airflow and heat recovery for a given climate, and 3D CFD tests how the height of the raised floor and the pressure drop across a turbine change cooling. Where the climate suits it, the scheme keeps servers cool enough and comes out profitable on net present value and payback time.
