Summary

Solar chimney power plants whose collector widens toward its outlet are compared with a standard design, testing three degrees of divergence through ANSYS Fluent simulations and measurements on a purpose-built test rig. Collector slope changes the airflow and velocity, and with them the static pressure at the chimney entrance and overall performance; simulated and measured results agree closely.
