Summary
Temperatures of the cover, collector air, absorber and soil were measured along the collector radius of a solar chimney pilot plant in Tanta, which has a 24 m chimney and a 1600 m² collector. Cover, air and absorber temperatures followed solar radiation, while the upper soil layer peaked at sunset. Airflow at the chimney inlet rose with the inlet-to-ambient temperature difference and averaged about 5 m/s during the day.
