Summary

Thesis assessing wind catchers combined with solar chimneys as passive cooling for apartment blocks in Mumbai. Components were sized using basic heat-loss and duct-loss methods, then checked by discretized calculation and CFD, which matched to within about 10%. Together, the two devices lowered yearly uncomfortable hours, judged against ASHRAE 55, by at least 71%.
