Summary

Field tests on a room in Beni-Suef, Egypt, compared three summer passive-cooling setups that combine paraffin-wax phase change material with walls, with or without a Trombe wall and solar chimney. Adding indoor-side insulation to the Trombe wall configuration worked best, keeping the room up to about 9.6 °C below outdoor air and extending the cooler-than-outside period to 11 hours.
