Summary

Indoor experiments on two laboratory solar chimney models with different collector shapes examine how the height of the collector inlet affects airflow, temperature and heat transfer. Lowering the inlet suppresses the secondary flows that cause entrance losses. In the conventional geometry, a lower inlet raised outlet air velocity by about 17% and the energy transfer rate by about 62%.
