Summary
Six candidate ground materials available in Malaysia, among them ceramic, black stones, sand and pebbles, were compared as collector absorbers and heat stores for solar chimney power plants, using a shared experimental rig alongside ANSYS FLUENT simulations. Ceramic and black stones performed best, with ceramic sustaining operation into the night, but black stones are favoured because they are easy to obtain locally.
