Summary
DesignBuilder/EnergyPlus simulations of a building in Rio de Janeiro that pairs a vertical solar chimney with a PCM-enhanced Trombe wall, varying chimney height, outlet area and cross-section shape. Of these changes, switching to a hexagonal chimney gave the largest benefit, raising mean indoor temperature to about 24 °C and cutting the average heating load to roughly 49 kWh.
