Summary
A laboratory solar chimney with a phase change material absorber was tested under three imposed heat fluxes. Absorber temperatures dropped only slowly while the PCM released its latent heat, and airflow followed absorber temperature, differing little between cases. Peak thermal efficiency reached about 80% early in ventilation for every flux, and the lowest flux gave the best minimum efficiency (63%).
