Summary
Three solar chimney power plant prototypes, each with a ground storage layer made of a different type of stone, were built and monitored under real weather. Deeper layers were less affected by ambient conditions, and stones with high heat capacity and well-chosen particle size and porosity kept collector temperatures steadier, heating the airflow after sunset and smoothing day–night output.
