Summary

Tests of several heat-storage options beneath the collector of a laboratory-scale solar chimney power plant built in Isparta, Turkey, show that the choice of storage material strongly affects collector performance. A crushed-gravel bed gave the best result, with collector efficiency near 90%, and fitting a diffuser improved output by calming turbulent flow; measurements matched theory and earlier published data.
