Experimental performance of solar chimney window on school building Withaya Puangsombut Field tests on small rooms of a Thai school compared two solar chimney windows, one with clear and one with translucent outer glass slats, set in a southeast-facing wall. The translucent version cut heat gain through the wall by roughly 3–20 W/m2 while driving natural airflow of about 5–15 m3/h, and is recommended for school buildings.

Summary
Field tests on small rooms of a Thai school compared two solar chimney windows, one with clear and one with translucent outer glass slats, set in a southeast-facing wall. The translucent version cut heat gain through the wall by roughly 3–20 W/m² while driving natural airflow of about 5–15 m³/h, and is recommended for school buildings.
