Summary
Compares Tehran, Semnan and Bandar Abbas in Iran as sites for a solar chimney power plant. A thermodynamic model with genetic-algorithm optimisation of geometry, performance and economics is used. For a fixed design, output barely changes between the cities. The optimisation favours Bandar Abbas, with a plant of about 167 MW and an 823 m tower, which also has the highest exergy destruction.
