Summary
Three-dimensional simulations of a solar chimney power plant sized like the Manzanares prototype and run under the climate of Semnan, Iran, compare collectors with and without artificial roughness elements. Roughness boosts heat transfer but slows the airflow, so its size and position need optimising; placing it near the collector inlet works best, though position matters little overall. Peak output without roughness reached about 51 kW in April.
