Summary

Photovoltaic/thermal panels used as the collector roof of a solar chimney power plant are modelled in EES with energy, exergy and exergoeconomic analyses, then optimized with a genetic algorithm. Lower cell temperatures improve performance. At the best-compromise design, the hybrid reaches about 3.3% total exergy efficiency at roughly 242 $/h, with a tower height near 300 m.
