Summary

Three-dimensional RANS simulations with a low-Reynolds-number k-ε model examine how the shape of the channel entrance of a roof-mounted solar chimney influences natural ventilation of a full-scale room. A rounded entrance raises the airflow rate, notably under strong solar heating, though the size of this effect depends heavily on where the room's inlet opening is placed.
