Summary
Models of design-point efficiency and off-design behaviour are built for counter-rotating turbines and coupled with thermodynamic and solar radiation models to estimate yearly energy yield of solar chimney plants of three sizes. Layouts with and without inlet guide vanes are compared against a single rotor; the vaneless counter-rotating design is less efficient at its design point but performs better away from it.
