Summary

Computational analysis of a hybrid plant in which exhaust gas from a gas-fired power station flows through pipes buried under a solar chimney collector, warming the ground so the plant can keep producing electricity when sunlight is weak or absent. Warmer soil heats the collector air, lowering its density and speeding the flow; soil ground with buried pipes performs about 30% better than a sand ground.
