Summary

Two- and three-dimensional CFD models of window-sized vertical solar chimneys for building ventilation are compared across channel heights, gaps and widths. The width-to-gap ratio proves decisive: side-wall effects matter in narrow channels but fade as the ratio grows, and above a ratio of about 8 the two models agree on airflow and thermal efficiency within roughly 5%.
