Summary

Numerical and scaling analysis of buoyancy-driven airflow and convective heat transfer in two vertical solar chimney configurations, visualised with streamlines and heatlines. Flow rate and Nusselt number rise with Rayleigh number; one layout outperforms the other at moderate Rayleigh numbers, but at high values intensified reverse flow cuts its flow rate and heat transfer. Intended to guide chimneys mounted on building walls.
