Summary

Uses CFD, validated against measurements from earlier studies, to model a glazed solar chimney that recovers heat in buildings relying on natural airflow. Ventilation increases as the chimney wall gets hotter, and double or triple glazing works best in cold winters. Putting heat pipes inside the chimney adds flow resistance and reduces buoyancy, so wind forces are needed to supply enough air.
