Summary

Proposes a passive external solar shield for building walls: a glass cover, a porous metal foam absorber and an air channel, which together form a flat solar chimney whose airflow stays outside the building. ANSYS Fluent simulations show that wall heat gain falls by up to about 79%, cutting electrical cooling demand by roughly 28%. The heated air could also drive evaporative cooling or desalination.
