Flying Chimney by Jens O. Sorensen

Atmmospheric thermal energy conversion utilizing inflatable pressurized rising conduit

The 1983 Sorensen US Patent n°4.391.099, describes a system using a rising conduit to enclose a vertical flow of air, and a turbine generator to convert the energy of the flowing air into electricity.
A balloon supports the structure. The turbines are located at the higher elevation in order to keep a pressure inside the thin walled inflatable rising conduit.
